BWR offers a range of services to public sector organisations as part of a Total Waste Management Solution or a single service (such as Kerbside Collections and Dry Mix Recyclables).
For example, Craigavon Borough Council is using BWR for all their recycling requirements, and have been bringing all residential recyclable waste materials from the Borough’s 36,000 co-mingled bins to BWR’s Materials Recovery Facility in Craigavon for the past 6 years. Most weeks see 12 lorries per day delivering their loads of dry mixed recyclables (some 600 tonnes per month) into the MRF where they are sorted, segregated and recycled. Some materials are recycled locally (such as plastic bottles) while others end up at remanufacturing plants in the UK or overseas.
Head of Technical Services with Craigavon Borough Council , Trevor Graham, says that “the Borough’s high recycling level of 37% of all residential waste collections is achieved in conjunction with BWR, and together we aim to increase this even higher during the next few years. Unlike some Council areas that use other recycling companies with different equipment, we are able to take shredded paper, window envelopes and gummed envelopes in our recycling bins without any problems”.
